Olympos Naoussa

This project is about the revival of the historical Olympos Naousa restaurant in Thessaloniki. The listed building of the 19th century belongs to the architectural style of eclecticism and has been restored and extended in order to accommodate a five-star hotel. The restoration and refurbishment design proposal required approval from the Heritage Authorities, in order to ensure that the timeless character and historical significance of the building will remain untouched.

The proposal attempts to restore and revive the original aura of Olympos Naousa, from its inception during the interwar cultural bloom of Thessaloniki, and transform it into a 5-star hotel with fresh interiors of contemporary elegance. The existing ground floor and mezzanine have been restored in order to include a restaurant, a lounge-bar area as well as a reception area with an interior design that highlights the existing architectural and decorative elements of the building, additionally complemented with modern features and decorative details. The vertical extension of the building includes 60 rooms within which 8 suites the design of which gradually reveals a transition from the listed building to the new extension to a more minimalist approach, by creating an eclectic contemporary aesthetic.
