Eurobank Office Building
ShareLocated in the historic centre of Athens, the Eurobank Office Building reimagines one of the city’s landmark urban structures as a contemporary workplace, combining architectural heritage with a forward-looking approach to sustainability.
Originally built in 1907 as one of Athens’ first reinforced concrete buildings, it began its life as a hotel before undergoing a major post-war transformation by architect Emmanouil Vourekas in 1950. Its layered history, from early 20th-century hospitality landmark to classic-modern commercial building, forms the foundation for its new identity.
The project restores and upgrades the existing structure as a new office building, reinforcing its historic significance while adapting it to the needs of a contemporary working environment. The design strategy is based on the careful conservation and rehabilitation of the façades, the enhancement of the building envelope and the reactivation of its relationship with the city.
A key ambition of the intervention is to bring light, openness and permeability into the workplace, while the creation of a roof garden offers panoramic views towards the Acropolis and Lycabettus. These outdoor spaces contribute to biodiversity and create moments of pause and connection with the city.
Targeting LEED + WELL certification, the project combines the preservation of a historic Athenian landmark with a clear commitment to environmental performance. Through the reuse and upgrade of the existing structure, the building is transformed into an innovative workplace that reflects Eurobank’s long-standing presence in the city.
