The new entrance to DESTE Foundation reexamines the process of viewing and questions the relation between the 'viewer' and the 'exhibit'. It attempts in fact to reconfigure this relation by turning the visitor-viewer into an exhibit.
A crate, identical to those used for the transportation of art pieces from one museum to another, is (dis)placed outside the building, the building being itself identified as an Ark for Culture. The crate distorts its scale thus turning into a threshold rather than a object. The transition is articulated upon the key moment of the entry - the visitor-viewer has now taken the place of the exhibit…
