The four-storey building is set on a plot with a direct view to the sea and comprises 30 apartments. The aim of the project was to re-examine the typology of the residential model (poly-katoikia) within the context of the modern Greek city and establish a new relationship between the city front and the sea. The volume is generated from a combination of linear site forces, which accentuate the sense of movement by slightly deviating from the lines of the site boundaries. The unfolding of this movement brakes down at the rear and back elevations. The precondition for visual continuity with the landscape establishes the relationship between the interior and exterior spaces. The timber flooring of the living space is extended to the balcony until it meets the translucent glass railing. The sight is free to experience an unobstructed view to the sea and the land that stands across.
The building is raised one level above the ground on a pilotis, permitting the landscape to run underneath. The grid lines change forms: from entranceways and exterior lighting systems to strips of plantation and soil.
360° establishes a new definition for the typical Greek apartment building by serving an intimate relationship between the city and the sea.
