The brief was to refurbish an existing property
on the island of Mykonos. Taking the idea of grace
as the starting point, modern interiors are deliberately
pared down to create a fresh interpretation of traditional
Cycladic style. 32 guest rooms are distributed over five
levels to maximise privacy. Balconies seem to hover
above the sea and the swimming-pool is eye-level
with the horizon. Bringing nature indoors, the reception
was conceived as a sea bed, the spa and fitness centre
as an imaginary forest. Backlit photographic murals
of blossoms or seascapes inject colour into all-white
bedrooms that are breezy and bright.
