The design of this private residence chooses not
to demolish the existing house, to keep it almost
as it is today in order to preserve the memory
of the previous owner and famous mathematician,
Carathéodory (1873-1950). Therefore, the expansion
is made 'behind' the existing house, and the addition
stands noticeably above, nearly without 'touching' it,
letting original parts become visible all around.
